JAMB EXTENDS 2018 UTME REGISTRATION DEADLINE

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced on Tuesday night – 6th February 2018, on their official website that the 2018 UTME registration has been extended to midnight of Sunday, 11th February 2018.

The statement reads: JAMB as a responsive organization has taken the decision albeit with great hesitation to accommodate candidates who failed to register between the two months window period that ended at midnight of Tuesday, 6th February, 2018. The failure of these candidates to register is unfortunate and the Board hastens to add that this culture of impunity will not be tolerated henceforth. Indeed penalty will be imposed for late registration from the next session. UTME candidates are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of the extension to register as a request for further extension would not be entertained.

Registration for Direct Entry candidates however continues. For emphasis, 2018 UTME registration now closes at midnight on Sunday, 11th February 2018

NUC GRANTS APPROVAL TO CHRISTOPHER UNIVERSITY TO MOUNT B.SC PROGRAMME IN MASS COMMUNICATION AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted Christopher University approval to run Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) programmes in Mass Communication and International Relations. This was communicated to the University on Friday 24th November 2017 through the office of the Director, Academic Standard, National Universities Commission “Dr G. B Kumo.

Dr G. B Kumo in his words wrote “I am directed to inform you that the Management Committee together with some visiting Professors during its 2-day meeting held on 16th and 17th November 2017 considered and approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the following undergraduate academic programme(s) to be run on the Main Campus of the University, effective from 2017/2018 academic session: 1. International Relations, B. Sc.  2. Mass Communication, B. Sc”

The addition of these two programmes has increased the total number of programmes offered at Christopher University to 14. Other programmes available at the University are Accounting, Business Admin., Economics, Banking, Finance, Marketing, English, Literature, Psychology, Political Science, Philosophy and History & Diplomatic Studies.

Admission into the University in these programmes for the 2017/2018 academic year is ongoing. Candidates seeking admission are advised to come to the campus with their UTME printout and Ordinary level results for screening.

JAMB DIRECT ENTRY FORM FINALLY OUT

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has begun the sale of the 2017 Direct Entry forms into Nigerian universities.
The JAMB Head of Public Relations, Fabian Benjamin, last week Monday in Abuja said the forms will be available online on the 10th of July 2017 and candidates for Direct Entry are expected to have Advanced Level, Diploma or its equivalent, while foreign candidates must possess proof of residency abroad.

“For foreign candidates to be eligible to write the examination in a foreign center, they must have stayed in the foreign country for at least a minimum of six months.
“You must have schooled there, you must have had your secondary education there; you must show evidence of having stayed there for a period of six months.
“If you have stayed in Nigeria and just flown to London to register, you are not eligible; you must have schooled or had your secondary education outside the country.
“Not that you just finished Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in 2016, and you are rushing to the United Kingdom to go and write your examination,” Mr. Benjamin said.
The Direct Entry is sold at the same price previously pegged at N5,000, adding that the Board was yet to fix the price for application for foreign candidates.

 

He said that the JAMB Direct Entry was mainly for people who already possessed a diploma certificate and wished to do a programme at the university.

FIRST SEMESTER BREAK AND RESUMPTION FOR SECOND SEMESTER

This is to inform the University Community that the First Semester/Easter break for both students and staff commences on Friday, 14th April, 2017.

 

While the staff will resume on Tuesday, 18th April 2017, after the public holidays, the students are expected back on campus on Sunday, 7th May, 2017. Second Semester lecturers will start on Monday, 8th May, 2017.
All concerned are required to note and adhere to this time schedule.

2ND SEMESTER RESUMPTION

Christopher University welcomes back her returning students from their 1st semester break. According to the notice sent out before the 1st semester break all students are meant to have resumed and settle down on the 7th of May 2017.
All returning students are advised to move in as soon as possible, register their courses online on the school portal for the second semester, 2016/2017 session, as lectures starts promptly.

CHRISTOPHER VARSITY HOLDS MAIDEN MATRICULATION TODAY

CHRISTOPHER University in a bid towards actualizing its vision to become a national powerhouse in management education, preparing managers, scholars, and entrepreneurs to confront the challenge of managing men and material resources, will, on March 30, 2017, hold its maiden matriculation ceremony. The university with the mission to create a specialized institution committed to the pursuit of academic innovation, skills-based training, and a tradition of excellence in teaching and research with private sector participation, will hold the ceremony at its permanent site, Km 34 Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibokun Aro, Mowe, Ogun State, Nigeria.
The university is matriculating students in 11 programmes that cut across three faculties- business administration, social sciences and humanities. Guests expected at the university’s maiden matriculation include the governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, promoter of Christopher University, pro-chancellor of the university, vice-chancellor, members of the governing board and chief executive officers from the private and public sectors of the Nigerian economy.
There will be a matriculation lecture to be delivered by Professor Anya O. Anya, the pro-chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State. Primarily, the philosophy of Christopher University is anchored on the need for excellence in the production of managers, scholars, and entrepreneurs that shall drive the Nigerian economy through innovation, in partnership with the private sector. The philosophy is to develop an institution that shall be a foremost center of excellence in management education in Nigeria and the African continent.

 

The philosophy of Christopher University also includes philosophy of education for self-reliance, creativity, innovation, and national development. The university shall match theory with practice in partnership with the private sector, and establish linkages with a consortium of universities nationally and internationally in order to cross-fertilize ideas geared towards academic ecumenism.

 

To properly anchor its philosophy, Christopher University shall pursue the ideals of equity, justice, fairness, and the universality of knowledge with the main goal of the University, being the search for truth and knowledge through teaching and research and their application to meeting the objectives, aspirations, and needs of society. Christopher University is also desirous to develop an internationally recognized institution with programs that are relevant to industries both private and public that are well respected and well sought after. In this wise, the University shall spare no effort towards providing the human and material resources that shall be required to pursue its philosophy of developing a world-class university.

CHRISTOPHER UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ORIENTATION PROGRAMME.

Christopher University held her first students orientation programme on Wednesday, 22nd of March 2017. The orientation programme was attended by the students, lecturers and principal officers of the university.
The programme was put together to introduce students to university life, acclimating them to their surroundings and providing the university community an opportunity to formally meet her newest members.
To socially integrate them into the university culture the programme was also used to provide academic advising to the students and give them a strong overview of academic expectations to better prepared them to meet the challenges of the academic year.
To achieve the above objectives some lectures (see table below) were organized for the new students.

Feedback received from students during the programme was encouraging and the University principal officers present were able to respond to questions and have promised to help resolve some of the challenges brought up during the programme.

VARSITY RESTATES COMMITMENT TO QUALITY EDUCATION

The management of Christopher University, Ogun State has restated its commitment to offering quality education that would not only liberate the graduates from the unemployment market in the country but also make them job creators.
The school said efforts are being intensified for the actualization of its vision of an ivory tower to become a national powerhouse in managing education, training managers, scholars, and entrepreneurs, who would be equipped to confront the challenge of managing human and material resources.
