CHRISTOPHER UNIVERSITY WELCOMES A NEW VICE CHANCELLOR

History was made on Monday, 4th May, 2026 at Christopher University, Mowe, Ogun State, South-West Nigeria,when one of the best private universities in the country, welcomed a new vice chancellor, professor Mrs. Ngozika Marian Mbajiorgu, a professor of Science Education, to take the mantle of leadership of the enviable Institution. She took over from the former vice chancellor, professor Afolabi Oyelana, whose five(5) years tenure ended on 31st March, 2026.

Information correspondent, Fortune Obikwere, who covered the event,reports that both the staff and students were very excited and jubilant to receive the first female Vice Chancellor of the university. They all prayed for her success on the job.

Earlier in his speech,the Registrar of the university, Barr. Aloysius Udeoke, while welcoming the new vice chancellor, described her as thorough – breed administrator, an academician par excellence,and a game-changer in the university administration. It was his view that professor Mbajiorgu would bring her wealth of experience to move Christopher university forward. The Registrar called on all and sundry to support, cooperate and pray for the new vice chancellor. He wished her wellin the job.

Responding, the Unichris new vice chancellor, Professor Marian Mbajiorgu,thanked all that came in their numbers to welcome her, while expressing joy at joining this citadel of learning.She promisedto use her wealth of experience gathered from the long time of being on the administrative cadre of Higher Institutions to develop Christopher university.

“I have being in the university administration for a very long time(over 20 years) – setting up and running new universities… But no matter how experienced I may be, I still need your assistance… My vision for Unichris is to make it a household name in
Nigerian and global university community, a place where students and Staff are proud of. I want to make it a place where students become entrepreneurs…”

She continued: “I would establish an Entrepreneurial incubation and acceleration center for students, where technology can be managed… By doing all these, we can move this university forward. This we also hope to achieve by implementing the university’s Motto of combining Education Theory with Practice….For competitors around, we shall use entrepreneurship to create a niche for ourselves. My personal vision is to achieve the
Vision and Mission of Christopher university….We have done well, but we have to do better by working harder. Yes, We Can!” She quipped.

Open Door Policy:
“You are free to see me at anytime, in myoffice, to discuss issues concerning the growth of our enviable institution.” She concluded.

Highlight of the on boarding of the new vice chancellor was a facility tour of the university, to get the new vice chancellor acquainted with them. The meeting was attended by the Directors, Management, Deans and other Staff of the institution, including the Chaplain of the university Catholic Chaplaincy, Rev. Fr. Mike Adenigba, the university Bursar, Mr. Chinedu Eze,the university Librarian, Mrs.Ogechi Agu, and the Chairman of Deans & Directors, Professor Mrs. Oyemisi Pitan, among others.
